To the colleges and universities, the laboratory is an important teaching place and is also a main research station now. The level of laboratory equipments is considered as a significant mark, which stands for the level of colleges teaching and research. But some colleges increase students and make the fund short, resulting in lack of advanced laboratory instruments which can not be satisfied the teaching requirement. So network virtual laboratory is developing in this situation. At the same time, as the virtual instrument and network technology developing, it is possible to construct the virtual instrument through the network. It will become the main parts for students to do the experiment on line.The new teaching style for doing the experiments on line is coming. The virtual laboratory system should be constructed by remote teaching model and be applied in the Internet network. The virtual laboratory system can cover the shortage of instruments, falling behind for mark, falling in updating and so on. Computer is the center in the virtual laboratory system, which connects the software through the network. This system can achieve the experiment data acquisition, analysis and remote operating. It contains the computer network technology, sensor technology, electronic testing technology, database technology and computer interface technology. According to the requirement for the experiment teaching, the new style virtual laboratory is made up of three functions which the virtual experiment environment should be constructed and some virtual experiment instruments and equipments should be using, then the emulation should be made in this experiment model.First of all, this paper introduces the research background, purpose and significance of virtual laboratory system, and then show the design of the virtual laboratory testing system in detail. The virtual laboratory is divided into two parts: the virtual laboratory system based on LAN and the virtual laboratory system based on Internet. The local virtual laboratory is constructed based on LabVIEW, which can communicate between the teaching testing instruments with GPIB and serial bus and computer, and achieve the data acquisition and analyze. LabVIEW is a kind of graph program language (G language), with the intuitionistic and interactive interface, invoking the Matlab script by the ActiveX technology, with the great power to deal with the data. Meanwhile, PCI-GPIB bottom driver is called by dynamic linking library in LabVIEW, so all kind of instrument with I/O can be supported and connected in order to accomplish dealing with date after acquisition. The remote virtual laboratory is constructed based on Internet to make the Web server, setting up the instrument server by G Web server in LabVIEW, building the communication between Web server and instrument server through TCP/IP, logging into the Web server in Client network management model in order to do the remote experiment and extend the instrument function.This subject can avoid increasing some basis repeated instrument and save more funds and this subject is good to improve the level of teaching as a whole. It is convenient for students to make the theory easy to understand in this case and guide them to do the experiment correctly. So the students can make the great progress in sensibility and theoretic. The virtual laboratory can be hot only making up the shortage of remote teaching pattern, but also make the remote education better. Combining the virtual laboratory with remote education, the virtual laboratory has becoming a new style education pattern based on network technology and virtual instrument technology.
