3D graphics is one of the most important part of applied computer. How to present real and rapid nature environment is main object of Computer Graphics. Visualized real nature screen can improve the reality effect of computer visual world. Water is common part of real world. But it's hard to simulate because it need huge computation to describe shape of water. So it impossible to simulate water effect based on physical model. How to simulate water is hotpot and nodus of computer graphics.This paper focus on water wave simulation based on Gerstner wave. The detail is:1.The program construct of water simulation. The system has been design by Design Pattern, some changeable part has been encapsulated. With MVC method the system have great reusability. Use strategy model to encapsulate algorithm of system; Use Command and Observer model to encapsulate communicate between system and input.2. Water effect implement and improve based on Gerstner wave algorithm.(1) Present Gerstner water wave with HLSL, simulate the effect of Gerstner water wave.(2) Describe the improvement of our algorithm with the moving of wave crest, it can be use to simulate big wave in outdoor water surface, and good result can be give in simulation of sea wave.(3) Analyzing the result, give the advantageous and disadvantageous of our result and give the further work.The creative of the work is list:1. Design a new structure, can good use in the project.2. Use HLSL simulate Gerstner wave.3. Improve Gerstner wave simulation with good result.Even got with good result, there still have some limitation. It's impossible to simulate wave flow effect. Particle effect can simulate the situation well in further work.
