With the convergence of multi-media information technology, the real-time transmission of voice and video over IP has been a hot issue in research on Internet. IP speech communication is the technology of the real-time speech transmission over IP network, which can achieve the coordination of data and voice. It's still a problem that network achieve the quality of service requirements. Besides, with the development of ASIC and DSP, there are more chances to research on VoIP. In view of the present situation, an IP speech communication system based on DSP was designed in the paper.Firstly, the basic principle and key technologies including network transmission, signaling and speech coding (LPC,ABS,CELP) of IP speech communication were illustrated in the paper.G.729 algorithm was also analysed.Secondly, according to the function requirement of VoIP, the overall design of the system was given out and the VoIP system based on TMS320VC5402 was designed. The component of the system and the function of hardware module such as speech, network interface were explained.Thirdly, the simulation of G.729 speech coding algorithm was done on the High-Level language platform. The optimization methods which adopt C and assemble language were exposed to realize G.729 on DSP. Accuracy and efficiency test were done. Test results indicated the accuracy and efficiency of the optimization methods, which improve the program operation efficiency.Fourthly, the realization of TCP/IP on DSP was exposed. The driver of Ethernet controller and realization of ARP,IP,UDP protocols were given. UDP communication test was done and test data process diagram was given. Finally the IP speech communication based on UDP was realized.The IP speech communication system adopted a optimize speech coding algorithm G.729. The performance of the system became better. UDP speech communication was also realized on the platform. The further optimization method to the speech coding algorithm and QoS of the VoIP were also expanded in the future research.
