Currently, there appears an upsurge that Chinese mass media have used dialects in communication.Seeing from the reality, various dialects,such as words in Wuhan,words in Hunan, words in Hangzhou, words in Sichuan, northeast words, Cantonese etc,have got into the media.in an instant, the media seem to be making "dialect engineering", and dialect communication seems to become the ace in the hole that the local media carry on in a competition.The popularity of various dialect programs brought about good economic profits to the local media and the programs are also favored by the local audience.However,this phenomenon has caused some problems.Mandarin has become the common language of the Han Nationality and it has been written into the law.Under such background,the deep-seated significances that the dialect programs have reflected are worth studying.This thesis mainly makes use of qualitiative research method, individual case analysis method and criticizing method.Chapter 1 clarifies the concept of dialect ,the relationship between dialect and Mandarin and then gives an overview of the phenomenon of dialect communication in Chinese media.Chapter 2 selects the typical dialect news program A liutou speaking news to analyze the reasons why dialect communication is so hot from several angle of views. Chapter 3 mainly uses criticizing method to reveal the realistic confusion and contradiction of the dialect programs and finally puts forward some countermeasures homologously.
