Performance Evaluation System(PES), is to make a comprehensive evaluation of employee's responding performance, including work technique and their skills, which would be an important reference in the decision making of Human Resource(HR) department. Obviously, It is the application of Business Intelligence (BI). Data warehouse is the most important technology of Business Intelligence. With the latest On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP), which is greatly different from the traditional data analysis method on-line transaction processing (OLTP), PES is created based on the OLAP and Office Web Components (OWC), in which, Web Service is used to encapsulate functions and thus a thin client becomes possible.The system regards the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 as its developing platform, and C# as its developing language. There are four modules in overall system design, including performance evaluation data warehouse module, data source connection module, dynamic data processing module and data display module; During the design process , the principles of Model-View-Controller(MVC) are strictly followed. The application of Model-View-Controller(MVC) structure made it true that it can set up only one model but with more than one views created simultaneously. Besides, when the model-layer changes, the mechanism of spreading changes can also ensure the simultaneous changes in both controller-layer and view-layer in time; The financial data warehouse which was created based on Microsoft SQL Server 2000, can not merely operate transaction process such as data query on application data, but also can carry on complicated decision-making analysis too; Web Services can Encapsulate every function modules and lighten the client's work load; OWC component can realize the dynamic data display in the client.This thesis firstly details the relevant technological background, domestic and foreign situation, and the practical meaning of this subject. Later, the main content and the overall structure are introduced. Secondly, the detailed demand analysis and brief introduction of the main technologies had been done. Through comparing with other technology, the advantage of the data warehouse, OLAP and Web Service will be dear and that is the reason why we never use other technology in the system. In the analyzing and designing stage, based on demand analysis, Detailed Function modules are designed and MVC structure will be applied in the design process. In the developing and realizing stage, According to the actual needs, Macroscopic data warehouse and multi-dimension modules are created , and in every module , custom dimensions are created by Multi-Dimensional Expression (MDX) language simultaneously. Finally, For a thin client, Kinds of the function method are encapsulated by Web Service, which will provide interfaces for customer's application and by invoking the OWC component, user can call the server's predef'med method to realize custom dynamical query conveniently. At last, A summarize had been done on the main content and the main technological point, and the points need to develop are also listed in the last chapter.
