As the increasingly popularization and development of multimedia technique, digital media such as image has become a main way of information communication. At the same time, it is easier to tortuous copy and sophistication which maximum injures the benefits of authors and owners. As an important application of information hiding in the multimedia area, watermarking can help to embed invisible information (watermarking) to multimedia information. Watermarking technique, which provides a new method for protection of copyright, has interested people very much and been widely researched and applied.In this dissertation, it is systemically analyzed about the application of watermarking in still images. All aspects including theory, characteristics, present research status are introduced by sequence, and then it is briefly analyzed about the algorithm and classification of watermarking technique.The dissertation does some studies on DCT domain and a new watermarking algorithm based on the property of DCT coefficients is proposed. Then the design principles are simulated and the performances are validated through some common attack experiments of images. Furthermore, PN series is used to ensure watermarking security. On the other hand, the dissertation focuses on the security fragility of digital watermarking system based on LSB, develops the method based on DES algorithm to encrypt for the hidden information. With the analysis of many spatial domain watermark algorithms, a new spatial domain digital watermarking method based on DES is presented, which is implemented by VC++ 6.0.
