| Previous research has shown that job characteristics can motivate employees, andmake them fell satisfied. And this study assessed the relationships between jobcharacteristics and job satisfaction, using a sample of 231 journalists and editors frommedia in many cities such as guangzhou and tsingdao. The questionnaire includes jobcharacteristics model (JCM), and Minnesoda satisfaction questionnaire (MSQ). Resultsindicated that perceived job characteristics were positively related with job satisfaction.Factor analysis is employed for the 20-item job characteristics survey and the 14-itemjob satisfaction survey, and comes with a 5-demension and 3-dimension resultrespectively. As expected, the findings suggest that job variety and feedback from jobhave a strong influence on journalist s' extrinsic satisfaction .and job autonomy haspositive influence on intrinsic satisfaction, job significance has strong positiveinfluence on social effectiveness, of all the variables we tested, only the influence ofjob identity has no direct effect on job satisfaction. The findings show that jobcharacteristics have predictable effects on job satisfaction.And recommendations for further study were suggested. |
