| Nowadays, the mass media, especially the'Report on three-dimensional rural problems' in the newspaper mainly concerns about how to speak for farmers and how to express information farmers need. But they have ignored the issue of making farmers speak for themselves and in their own words. Although farmers should be the leading role in the'Report of three-dimensional rural problems', they failed to be. As an alternative, government and media have given priorities related to agriculture, rural work and farmers' role in the public field. In order to make a deeper analysis of farmers and relative media reports mentioned in the'Report of three-dimensional rural problems', this thesis chooses the'Report on three-dimensional rural problems' from Fujian Daily published between January 2006 and March 2007 as the research objective. Various methods are used for the purpose of discussing gain and loss in these reports as well as discussing image-building of farmers, such as statistical analysis, epagogic analysis, paradigmatic analysis, comparative analysis and comprehensive analysis. After analyzing these reports from the angle of sociology and mass communication, this thesis concludes that governments and media should timely adjust the importance of their reports. Further more, media should take an active action of becoming the real public field, and offer more chances and possibilities for farmers to enter into public and to express opinions to public. Only in this way can farmers really become the leading role, hence they can express themselves freely and democratically and finally become the host of the new socialist countryside. |
