Recently, the automated fingerprint identification and its algorithm have been progressed greatly. Fingerprint, as one of the most stable humanphysiological characteristics, has been widely used for personal identific-ation, and its excellent effect has been proven in practice and accepted, and now it goes by the name of the head of material evidence. Automated fingerprint identification System is a methodology that uses digital imaging technology to obtain, store, analyze the fingerprint data, then provides the result of fingerprint identification. It is wide research meaning and application foreground to do research for it.Firstly, the paper expatiates on the general way to design and implement the fingerprint processing module based on embedded system. In the module, utilizing digital signal processor (TMS320VC5402) and fingerprint sensor (MBF200) to implement the detecting, collecting and identifying fingerprint images. This module board expands the external SRAM and FLASH as data memory and program memory. With utilizing the CH375 to expand USB interface, the module provides the function to connect external MSF and communicate with PC. Finally,after accomplishing the hardware of the fingerprint processing module, conceives of the software frame of it. In brief, the main jobs of this paper are as follows:(1) Using the chip MBF200 which is produced by FUJITSU to detecte and collect fingerprint images.(2) Utilizing the chip SST39VF400A which is produced by SST to store the code and the fingerprint template, utilizing the static memory chip CY7C1041 which is produced by CYPRESS to store the fingerprint image data and offer the temporary room when the syetem is running.(3) With the USB interface chip CH375 which is producesd by Nanjing QinHeng Electronics Co.Ltd, and configuring the USB-Host or USB-Slave mode, the module provides the function to connect external MSF and communicate with PC(4) Accomplishing the code of the system initialization, the fingerprint collection,ID identification ,the communications and the Human-Machine Interface(5) Completing the system debugging and the code optimization based on C language.
