Ad Hoc network is a special wireless mobile network whose nodes have the same status completely, charactered with decentralized, self-organizing, multi-hop routing, dynamic topology and anti-destroy.Wireless Token Ring Protocol (WTRP) is a distributed medium access control protocol for Ad hoc networks. Stations take turns transmitting and give up the right to transmit after a specified amount of time. So it can avoid the transmission collision and solve the problem of hidden and exposed station. But this protocol still has some problems, for example, it must construct a token ring path, which makes it has a poorly ability to fit the dynamic network topology. In this paper, the performance of WDTP(Wireless Dynamic Token Protocol) which is improved on the basis of WTRP is analyzed. Also, the performance comparison between WDTP and WTRP is provided. The subnets are used in WDTP to replace the rings in WTRP. The quality of service (QoS) for real-time traffic is guaranteed by limiting the maximum number of nodes in each subnet. Also, the token dynamic transfer algorithm is proposed which can adaptively choose a path to transfer the token without establishing a virtual token ring in advance. Compared to WTRP, it has a better adaptation to the change of the network topology. Meanwhile, WDTP guarantees the high throughput, enhances the stability and the fairness.
