For an enterprise facing the fury competitive market environment and different client needs, success in implementing MRPII/ERP technology is one of the most important measures that enable the enterprise to suit to the changing market in the internet economy times and to remain invincible. Particularly, it is more essential for the trial-manufacture factories which mainly produce single or small amount and uncertainty products.Since the special characteristics of a trial-manufacturing enterprise and shortcomings of conventional MRPII/ERP system, this kind of enterprises will encounter many problems when they conduct management system. This paper is to contribute to address the following issues:1. Limitations of conventional MRPII/ERP system and flow management system for trial-manufacturing business.Most of current commercial ERP system as well as ordinary flow management system with the main routine of the demand for material are both good at management of material house store, costs, and flow, also are suitable for management of flow-producing enterprise. But it can not manage well the small and mid-sized enterprise, especially the discrete trial-manufacture enterprises, in the areas of monitoring manufacture process and analyzing product ability etc., which is the main reason that stunt the implementation of MRPII/ERP in these enterprises.This paper's work serves to the special enterprises who mainly produce trial, single or small quantity products and has not a certain craft routine. So after studying the ideas of ERP and the management mode of the special enterprise, a series of management functions, such as tracking and monitoring different kinds, small batch products , have been accomplished.The basic ideas are to integrate task-coding to material-coding and item-coding, which results in the second set to the project. Coding the term by task besides by item will also generate a portion of the product barcode. Using the barcode is able to track and configure agilely an element, avoiding delay the entire project schedule because of lack of material or some uncertainty craftwork information.2.Weakness of decision-making support for traditional MRPII/ERP Traditional MRPII/ERP system built on the relationship data house, mainly emphasize on data process of business, lack of organization, systematic and integrated data system. It's hard to analyze the data to make a decision, find out useful information and master the trend of development and market changing. Meanwhile, traditional MRPII/ERP system is based on simulation with the data processing along the designed mode, apparently it's too simple.Therefore, in this paper, synthesized OLTP and OLAP techniques has been employed to develop the entire information system. First, although OLTP is capable of inquiring business data, it is not strong enough to extract synthetic data, especially when the amount of data become enormous as time going forward. Second, OLAP technique together with data storehouse technique can compose of effective decision-making support system, which make full use of each merits and compensate the shortcomings. This unified design ensure the consistency of data in OLTP and OLAP, decrease the difficult to extract data from OLTP, and enhance the accuracy of analyzing data for OLAP system.In the dissertation, a solution employed both OLAP and OLTP technology simultaneously has been designed for an produce management system applied in a mid-sized, trial-manufacturing business, which consists of administration part, technology support and several producing unit, about 1,000 staffs. The solution should provide the functions of dealing with produce, technology, store, account, and statistic analysis, giving reference for making decision. The following is the major designing ideas:1.Build OLTP data house of the businessConstruct the relationship database according to the characteristics of the business. Since having considered the demand of decision analysis, some relation tables embodied the data house designing idea.2.Design & develop MRPII/ERP system based on the specialties of the enterprise itself.According to the design thoughts of MRPII/ERP, recreate the business flow, design the producing management system.3.Determine the OLAP system architectureDue to OLAP system used the Microsoft SQL Server2000 as data house, we adopted Microsoft SQL Analysis Services as server of OLAP. The entire OLAP is composed of 4 parts:(1)The basis data house, it is the data source for analyzing;(2)The data house stored the analyzed data, its source data come from OLAP database using DTS.(3)OLAP sever, it is data process engine that support and manage multi-dimension data structure;(4)The front terminal browse tool utilize VB to program, use table or figure form to inquire data. In our system, OLAP data and OLTP data is separate, this configuration won't affect the OLTP running.4.Design data warehouse and multi-dimension data martOLAP built on the data warehouse. The design don't adopt standard form of data house, but the form of Data Mart, to achieve the data warehouse.5.Front-end design of decision analysisProgrammable language and MDX (Multidimensional Expressions) are employed to obtain client end.We adopt Visual Basic6.0 as client-end development tool, and utilize ADO MD(ActiveX Data Objects, Multi Dimension)to call in multi-dimensional data mart. ADO MD originates one extending from ADO technology in order to support visiting to multi-dimensional data mart. In general, the manufacturing management system presented by this dissertation suits very well to mid-sized, discrete, schedule-changing frequently, and custom order-producing business. Since synthesized OLTP and OLAP technology are adopted in our manufacturing management system of producing business, the ability of making decision and analyzing data of system is improved, meanwhile the consistent of database enhanced the correctness of analysis of data and make it feasible in implementing process. This system has been carrying out in Changchun Aopu opto-electric Corporation for over 2 years, and has satisfied client's requirements generally. The management system has been proved that it possess the merits of easy extending, agile requirement and low investment, it is also proved to suit to be applied in small and mid-sized business, so it is valuable to spread in the above mentioned enterprises.
