The SoftSwitch is the core of the NGN. SIP is an important protocol to implement SoftSwitch. The concept and system of traditional telecommunications are faced with new technical revolution represented by Internet. The telecommunication industry's new business appears quickly, the service of the data is being developed fast, the portfolio of the data expands rapidly. So the course of network development is evolving to Next Generation Network. The new subject that the telecommunication Co. faces is how to fully utilize resources of the already existing network and paces keeping up with the gradual progress of the network. The SoftSwitch separates the call control functions from the media gateway. It is treated as the best means to converge PSTN into IP network. This paper starts with illustration of development of the telecom network's technology providing and the development background of NGN, analyses the characteristics and structure of the NGN, then analyses the SoftSwitch's definition, characteristic, and function.SIP is a control protocol over application layer in SoftSwitch. SIP can be used to call, revise, and stop the conversation of the multimedia.. This paper analyses the SIP in detail. Integrating with actual practice, this paper gives a means to realize the SoftSwitch SIP Teaching System. This paper presents the structure of the system firstly, then realizes the means of the SIP messages'formation and parse, SIP UA and Proxy Server. Then realizes the teaching means that displaying the message detail and sequence during a SIP session. At last, this paper provides examples of the teaching system.
