Because of high access rate, flexible building, Wireless LAN has more and more rapid development and unique advantage of mobile data transmission. However, as the field of WLAN application is constantly expanding, its management and safety issues are attracting more attention. Due to the special characteristic of the WLAN, traditional LAN management could not involve all the management of WLAN, people put forward new demands. An effective WLAN management system can make WLAN performance better and safety stronger. The paper first introduces the background and development of WLAN at home and abroad. The paper tells about the basic structure and working principle of WLAN, and then discusses the wireless IEEE802.11 protocol and IEEE802.1x authentication techniques. Secondly, the paper starts from the SNMP, and analyzes the important role of WLAN management. The paper focuses on the main content, management targets in WLAN management system, as well as the different aspects of security management. Based on the realization of wired LAN management system, the paper analyzes and researches new content of WLAN management. Analysis of the existing wireless LAN management and security issues, the paper makes a complete WLAN management system solution, which include centralized configuration of WLAN access points, network trouble detection methods, security detection methods, user authentication and accounting methods, wireless channel band management and wireless network performance measurement. In addition, by integrating the technical and resources traditional of traditional network management with the wireless network management, the paper discusses the management of equipment and terminal management, location and mobility and security in WLAN. In the last part, the paper designs and implements some parts of the WLAN NMS base on the CNetMan NMS.
