For low-observable platform, antennas on it are one of the main contributions to the total Radar Cross Section (RCS). So the RCS reduction of antenna is now an important topic for the current stealth technologies. At present, the alteration of antenna's gain and bandwidth has been the main criterion which is used to weigh the means of RCS reduction. More work is studied deeply based on previous work. The RCS of microstrip antenna is reduced by all means in the whole frequency band while antenna's radiation performance remains.Firstly, the effect of cutting slots on the patch of microstrip antenna on the scattering performance is presented. A low RCS microstrip antenna with cut slots on the patch is designed and simulated. Secondly, cutting slots on the patch and ground plane is used to reduce the RCS of microstrip patch antenna, which can reduce the RCS of microstrip antenna in the whole frequency band while antenna's radiation performance remains. The microstrip antenna has been fabricated and measured. The measured results agree rather well with the simulated results, which proves the technique efficient. Finally, some research is carried out on the RCS reduction of microstrip antenna array by cutting slots on the patch and ground plane.
