In recent years, along with the computer applied technology's development, the embedded system penetrates into the numerous domains and becomes the most popular technologies. Moreover, with the popularization of ARM and 32bit microprocessor, 8bit MCU is moving gradually toward the edge of elimination, the original 8bit control system is also facing the system's upgrade. The higher operating frequency, the more complex control function, is becoming the embedded control system's subject.Aimed at "the design of intelligence traffic control platform based on VxWorks", this paper has studied embedded operating system VxWorks and its application on the ARM, and has done the following works:First, this paper simply narrated embedded system's basic concept, simultaneously, introduced the ARM micro processing performance and the function, as well as the VxWorks operating system's structure and principle.Second, introduced the AT91RM9200 microprocessor's development platform's design method based on ARM9 architecture, carried on the discussion of this platform's design, which involved the core processor's hardware source assignment and the design of the peripheral expanded circuit, such as RAM, FLASH, serial port, network, USB, and special-purpose serial communication chip.Finally, based on ARM-VxWorks BSP of developing platform, this paper summarized the the method of debugging BSP and the method of writing hardware driver code, which focus on the method to write device driver and realize Specific hardware driver.
