As result of present increasing telecom market competition, telecom business make achievement in quantity-rising but comparative low-revenue, phonetic business income decrease continually, while the data business income go up quickly, which have been regarded as one of the important new income-increasing source. Therefore, the competition for data access market incandesces increasingly among Telecommunication Operators, especially for the main contending for industry and group customers.The present adoption of data access methods based mainly on wireline access network, with these resources, the traditional Telecommunication Operators, such as China Telecom,CNC, cover most data access market shares. While though China Unicom backbone network has powerful transmission and operating capability, limited local network resources and access-capability bring about data access projects bottleneck. As result of high dig-pave cost and difficulties in China's urbanization progress, as result of longer period and a mass of investment, as result of unpractical large-scale construction local-net-pipeline from seizing market opportunity and investment yield, the adoption of advanced and easy to construction and maintenance of wireless transmission technology solves the data access problems.Nowadays China Unicom data access project is mainly to satisfy the development of the Internet Line business, VOIP,IP voice Line,Video business and Personal Data Business. At the same time, the users have put a highly demand on the bandwidth of the network. But the present wireless transport technology, which mainly include Wi-Fi,non-standard broadband wireless system,GPRS,CDMA etc, can't satisfy the demand of the broad band, the high coverage request. The WIMAX technology, which based on the 802.16 standard, with the advantages of high rate,NLOS and long-distance transportation, can be used as an effective way to the data-accession.With the development of WiMAX technology, up until now, lots of manufactories have put forward the standard of 802.16-2004,business WiMAX equipment, for example, Alcatel, Nortel, Lucent, Alvarion, Siemens, red line etc. And some Chinese manufactories such as ZTE,Huwei,Datang also give birth to the corresponding products. China Unicom has built the testing network of WiMAX in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Dalian since April and October in 2006 and has gotten the good effect after testing the utility of the technology. The test has proven that the WiMAX can be used as an effective way of the group customers connect internet,VOIP. In order to spread the results of the experiment and prompt the development of date access network, China Unicom has decided to built the first period of the 3.5GHz Point-to-Multipoint broadband wireless access network in 18 provinces and municipals. In order to satisfy the development of the date business demand, China Unicom Jiangxi branch has decided to built the network of WiMAX in the hot-spot areas of Nanchang. The writer of the thesis took charge of the design and the implementation, give his effort to solve the coverage of the local network and satisfy the fast development of the Unicom data business demand.
