| The dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) uses resources at present and makes per fiber transmit more signals. So the communication capacity is improved very much and the cost of building and running is decreased. On the other hand, DWDM establishes a foundation to build an entirely optical network. The paper introduces the DWDM principle and parts of system. The factors, which affect the system, are discussed. The project that utilizes DWDM in the south littoral is expatiated in detail. The fiber dispersion compensation modules are used to solve the dispersion question in the long-distance transmission. And its value is calculated. The DWDM system has made use of fiber sources that have already been in the south littoral. The DWDM system only adds SDH equipments without thinking about fiber sources in future. The costs in building up fibers and in adding re-generators save. IP non-link is reserved and IP Over SDH protocol, standard and draft are supported. The DWDM system sets up an integrated and united transmitting network, which is very large in capacity, very high in speed and very efficient. |
