With the development of CAD, internet and database technology, the research on CAD assistant database based on web is becoming an important part for digital assembly. In the process of digital assembly for complex mechatronics product, the designers frequently use finished parts, which are equipments of other products or of all-purpose. However, at present, the finished parts are kept on the computers of designers, maintained and managed individually. The disadvantage is that the finished products lack certain description information and it is inconvenient to use and inquire. In order to improve the efficiency of the design and to fulfill the need of digital assembly, it is necessary to design a finished parts database, so that all the finished parts can be managed together. It plays an important role in improving the efficiency of product design and digital assembly process and shortening the design circle of the products to develop and use finished part database.In the thesis, we first analyze the need and the function of the system, and plot the layered Data Flow Diagram of system using Structured Analyze Method, based on which to get the entire framework of the system and establish the B/S based web construction. And then, in terms of normal design method of database, we get the conceptual model of the system using IDEF1X method, and design the logical and physical model of the database based on the conceptual model. The design turns out to be appropriate in satisfying the special need of the system, including to insure the integrity, easy-to-use, safety for the product information and to accomplish the authority and security management of the system. Finally, we introduce the actualization of the system, and describe the basic function, style of the user interface and the operation process for each module in detail.We employ B/S structure for the system and get dynamic result according to the request submitted by the users, which can serve active content to the users and obtain the updated information from the database, but will add to the burden of the web server for creating every page that the users requested. For this reason, we use certain technologies to improve the performance and stability of the system and thus better the feeling of the users using the system, which include the Ajax and Caching technology, and the optimization of the SQL query strings for Multi-query.The finished product system is developed under ASP.NET 2.0 using C# as programming language, IIS (Internet Information Server) as the web server and SQL Server 2000 as database server. And finally, the system is established and we get the expected result. The developing methodology using in this system can also be used to the design procedure of other Management Information System based on B/S.
