Portable Media Player (PMP) Design

In fact,the PMP market in China has developed 3～4 years,but until today,the entire industry is not mature PMP universal quality.MP3 is the difference,although the MP3 market has been equally varied,but at least consumers get their products can be songs,but the PMP are not, consumers can get their products play movies often questionable.PMP are not mature performance of two main,flooding the market First,a large number of "pseudo-PMP",the so-called "video MP3" nature of such products is still MP3,but because of the color screen,and slightly larger, has been sell as PMP,in fact it only support some MTV,it is impossible for movies;two support the format,which is accused of consumers have been suffering from one of the core issues,many domestic PMP only support ASF streaming media formats,networks need to download the majority of the film before broadcast format conversion,human waste a lot of time.Generally,at least one PMP can support DVD,VCD and MPEG-4 format to be used both.The paper reviewed PMP audio/video decoding each kind of service pattern,compared with theirs their advantages and disadvantages.Has selected SIGMA DESIGNS the EM8511 plan makes the design of Portable Media Player(PMP)after the comparison.This design after the hardware conformity,optimized the power management circuit,has realized to D1(720~*576)theresolution each kind of video frequency source smooth decoding.Video decoding support:MPEG-1,MPEG-2 MP@ML,MPEG-4 ASP@L5,DivXVideo v3.11,4.x and 5.x,JPEG, audio decoding support:MP3,WMA,OGG,AC-3,WAV;Uses AU 3.6 inch TFT LCD,the 320xRGBx240 resolution;Supports the television output:composite video/S-video,NTSC/PAL-format;Uses 1.8 inches micro hard disks,capacity 20～60G;Remainshas the CFI/Ⅱconnection, supports between HDD and CF the bidirectional data exchange,may realize the digital companion's function;The use of USB interface can be used as a mobile hard disk;a free uCLinux embedded operating system and improve the maintainability and scalability for future increase new features.
