The insurance industry in China has been developing very rapidly since China's entry of WTO and the insurance opening up of the market. Meanwhile, the competition has been transiting from a pure pursuiting of business scales to emphasising on overall competitive advantages. In addition to introduction of new attractive insurance products, more and more attention has focused on the application of advanced information technologies. Application of IT has not only facilitated the business operation, but also brought to the industry new opportunities and competition.Currently, foreign insurance companies are focusing on the optimization and application of information technologies in customer services. However, Most of the information systems currently in use were developed separately during the 1980s to meet the business demands in Chinese insurance companies at that time. Major changes of the system have to be made whenever a new feature is added. Furthermore, the absence of a universal developing platform harms the integration of the data and the efficiency of later management. So far, the insurance companies remain an urgent task how to integrate information technologies to the insurance business and integrate the current IT systems, in order to integrate data and share the data in the whole company.Based on the analysis of existing personal safety insurance systems, an efficient and improved business workflow is put forward and a UML-based developing model is established in this research. Repetitive application of this universal model will facilitate the integration to future integration. Finally, a demonstration model is developed by Pega for personal safety insurance systems. This model can be used to create new business demonstration modules. The model has many advantages such as rapid developed, visibility, expandability and ease of maintenance.
