As the rapid development of the world industry, the consumption of the resource is increasing sharply, human being is demanding more and more resources, and in contrary to that, the landing mineral resources are dropping day after day. In this situation, the development for oceanic resources becomes the choice and opportunities for many states.Thus the research for UWSN plays an important role in oceanography research..This paper is devoted to the development and commissioning of underwater wireless sensor network node, and it proposes the mater design plan for the underwater node based upon SOPC technology as per the feature of underwater wireless sensor networks and the research achievements and methods for underwater wireless sensor networks at home and abroad.This paper elucidates the critical technologies involved in the development as per design assignment of underwater wireless sensor, compares and demonstrates several design and realization plans for underwater node, and eventually determines the hardware development platform based upon FPGA, synergistic design shall be conducted with SOPC technology between hardware and software, in order to satisfy the high performance treatment requirement, and achieve the goals of high flexibility, transplantablility, editability and lowering of cost. This system chooses the EP2C20 component of Cyclone II series of Altera, in the paper the circuit design for the major functional modules is provided.We design hardware logic for node of UWSN with Quartus II software, and use SOPC Builder to design Nios II, CPU,arithmetical unit,MEMORY,TIMER and other mature IP core are apply to node. We use the hardware description language VHDL to design bottom drives, and make them as customer IP core, such as high-speed DA IP core,digital potentiometer IP core,bandpass filter IP core,high-speed AD IP core,digital,calendar and time IP core and temperature measurement IP core. The usage of IP core lighten the burden of the software, and the co-design of hardware/software quicken the speed of designWe put FPGA chip,SDRAM and the Flash chip in a small printed circuit board as the core board, this is convenient for the hardware upgrade. We also use A/D and D/A technology,power management and signal isolation technology and etc. Program of Software mainly include acoustic communication program,UART program,CAN program,data acquisition and processing program and so on. Finally, this paper analysis the characteristics of the system based on result of reaearch and development and give suggestion according to problems which happened in design.
