Wireless sensor network, which consists of a large number of small wireless sensor nodes with low-power transceivers, can be an effective tool for gathering data from different environment, which in turn can be transmitted to the base station for further processing. The sensor nodes powered by battery, are densely placed in or around the objects to be sensed either by plane or by people. Since a network consists of sensors with limited battery energy, the method for data gathering and routing must be energy efficient protocol to maximize the lifetime of sensor network. LEACH is a fairly efficient energy protocol in order to prolong the lifetime of the network. The sensors, in this case, without getting the location of the nodes, can also organize logical cluster by using the WMC algorithm. The sensors, in this case, without getting the location of the nodes, can also organize logical cluster by using the WMC algorithm. Based on LEACH and the WMC algorithm, this paper proposes a low energy cluster-base routing algorithm, which can be used in wireless sensor network. Instead it clusters the nodes into groups. And then the area of clustering is determined and fixed automatically. The algorithm rotates cluster head based on the energy of nodes, and builds a communications to the base station in multi-hop. Finally, this paper simulates the new algorithm with NS2.Simulation results show that the algorism performs better than LEACH.
