The so-called digital television was based on digital signal.Firstly the traditional analogue television signal is quantified and converted into binary encoding digital signal, then the digital signal is processed, transferred, stored and recorded when computer can be used to monitor and control the process of signal disposal. Compared with the traditional analogue television, digital television has clearer images, more realistic sound, larger screen and more channels. Moreover it combines television, computer, telecommunications functions as one, which extends the function of television. It has become a convenient channel for millions of households to access to the information super highway. As far as TV manufacturers, TV station, the television industry and the media, the emergence of digital television is not only a challenge but also an opportunity. It brings the inestimable potential of the television market expansion. It will promote the development of various industries by making use of the interactive features of digital TV to carry out various value-added services.Digital television image signal source coding keeps to MPEG-2 standard. U-PLAT core component of this paper is mainly based on the FPGA, DSP, ARM processor series platform, which provides television operators a "value added service" platform. Can be achieved to provide users with a number of DVB programs or J2EE MPTS of arbitrary programs to achieve the maximum of eight sets of subtitles superimposed programs (including : Logo, clock, fly words) or voice routing functions.(digital programs volume adjustment)This paper first outlines processing platform of the digital television receiving forefront, the basic concept and the hardware description language features of FPGA, FPGA design methods, then discusses the structure of the MPEG-2 system layer protocol and video parts and the important role of PCR markers in the MPEG-2 stream processing. Then introduced several important models: the multiplexing, demultiplexing, seamless connecting, ASI and also introduced a new ASI model. Then study on the place of the platform for chart and character in digital television broadcast system and its functions, the platform the hardware circuit structure. Focuses on the function performed by FPGA and its implementation in the platform.Propose the Overall structure of the FPGA design, then the whole FPGA system is divided into different functional modules: ASI-interface design, ES Analysis Module, MUX multiplexing system design, PID replacement system design, PCR correction system design, control interface module. Finally, the results of tests of the system is shown, and discusses the advantages and improvements of the design.
