IPTV is a new industry that is developing rapidly, and the standard of IPTV has not been formed completely. Serval key technologies about IPTV, such as video codec, wideband network, stream media and chips supporting codec have developed rapidly in recent serval years. All this progress in technology stimulates the development of IPTV. Nowadays, some commercial and experimental IPTV networks have been deployed in the world.The key parts of IPTV set-top-box are stream analyzer and decoder. Instability of network causes the jitter of stream, meanwhile, the TV service, especially the High Defination TV requires a high-level video and audio quality. So a dejitter system is necessary for implementing high qulity TV service. A dejitter buffer was designed, and the apporiate size of the buffer and principles about compensating the network jitter was researched. An algorithm about adjusting the play speed was designed, and the affection caused by this algorithm to the working status of the buffer is simulated.VOD service is necessary in an IPTV solution, and a well-designed EPG system is key for implementing interactive service. EPG system of IPTV was improved by adding a local EPG database to it. The efficiency of the information analyse was improved.Analysed and ported an embedded browser-Zen.The Zen's UI API was implemented with graphic library that already worked.All work was based on ST7100 platform, which provides basic network access ablility. Operation System was embedded linux supporting SH-4 CPU core. The application was based on the Linux and ST's middleware.
