Manufacturing Executing System (MES) is a bridge between enterprise information and manufacturing data to implement quick production and made smartness production come true. Data acquisition and integration will play more and more important roles in this process. The new method to combine SCM technology, barcode scanning technology and the emerging ZigBee wireless network technology wil lmake the data acquisition easier, faster, and more flexible. In this paper, an embedded data acquisition terminal applied to the Manufacturing Executing System (MES) in enterprises will be presented in detail.1,The paper introduces the definition, functional model, characteristics and the advantages of the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), as well as the status and development trend of MES. At the same time, it introduced the data acquisition technology in MES detailedly.2,It analyzes the different data types existed in the enterprises and their own characteristics, and summarizes the corresponding data acquisition methods according to the different data types. And it buildes a data acquisition system applied in the production plant by colligating the different data acquisition methods.3,It designs a production data acquisition terminal which can read the bar code, transmit the date by the wireless network, and also has the human-computer interface. The hardware and the software design of the data acquisition terminal is introduced in detail, and the key part of theterminal——the constitution of the ZigBee wireless network is deeply discussed too. And atlast, the real-time transmission of the date in the data acquisition terminal by the wireless network is realized successfully.4,It take the Hangzhou Limited liability company as the example, the paper introduces the application of the data acquisition terminal in leaf processing workshop in this enterprise. The location place of the data acquisition terminal in the workshop is chosen according to the layout of the leaf processing workshop. And the communication protocol between the data acquisition terminal and the production management system in the enterprise is constituted also, and the data in the terminal is consolidated into the production management database finally.Finally, it gives a summary of this paper, and some advices to the further research are presented.
