Video monitor system is an important component of security system, and it is an integrated system which has strong preventive and practical ability. However, in recent years, with the rapid development of embedded technology, multimedia technology and computer networks, video monitor systems are constantly updating and developing.Embedded network video monitor systems studied in this thesis includes embedded technology, video coding technology and computer network technology. The system uses PXA270 with WMMX (Wireless MMX) as the microprocessor, designs the hardware circuit, uses embedded Linux cut by myself as the software development platform, uses a new generation of video compression standards H.264 developed by the Joint Group (JVT), also known as AVC (Advanced Video Coding), and uses Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) and Real-time Transport Control Protocol (RTCP) to provide video data real-time transmission and network QoS(quality of service) services.The system is made up of the monitor terminal and client, and use of C/S (Client/Server) mode to design the whole system. Monitor terminal is a complete embedded devices with embedded Linux operating system, and the main research contents include: how to use V4L (Video4Linux) to collect video images, how to use H.264 encoder to compress video data, how to use RTP / RTCP for real-time video data transmission and congestion control, how to use SMTP and TC35 GSM module to provide SMS and send e-mail, and how to use serial programming under Linux to design tray control module. The client is general PC with WindowsXP operating system, and the main research contents include: how to use the library function of VFW (Video for Windows) to call H.264 software decoder to decode the video data and to playback the decoded video data.In this thesis, the study focuses on four points: design the circuit of monitor terminal; cut and transplant embedded Linux; design the software of monitor terminal and client; optimize the H.264 encoder of JM10.1 in several aspects to achieve real-time request.
