Operational Support System Of Wireless Vending Machine Based On PDA

Wireless vending machine is a newly-sprouted thing of mobile-ecommerce and has been widely used. The function of operational support system of wireless vending machine is to provide system managers with the operational information about wireless vending machine in order to guarantee its normal operation. For the existing operational support system of wireless vending machine, system manager must monitor the system in the monitoring center through cable connection, which makes strict restrictions on time and place and can no longer meet the needs of modern e-commerce. Therefore, this article introduces a design and realization of operational support system of wireless vending machine based on PDA. Via the portable PDA, the system managers can monitor the system anytime and anyplace.After in-depth analysis to the existing operational support system of wireless vending machine and according to the features that PDA has limited resources, the system can be re-divided into five function modules, which are called system configuration, system monitoring, logistics management, accounting management and basic information querying. Based on J2EE multi-tier architecture model, the system architecture is divided into Presentation Tier, Business Logic Tier and Enterprise Information Tier. At all tiers, Object-Oriented Programming idea is used for programming design to ensure that all tiers have been loosely coupled. For Presentation Tier design, J2ME technology is adopted in PDA programming, MVC design pattern is used for navigation. As to the design of man-machine interaction, not only hot key but also touch screen is supported, which provides a better interaction. Business Logic Tier is realized by the program of application sever. This tier uses servlet to deal with the request coming from PDA side and uses JavaBeans to encapsulate the complex business logic. Enterprise Information Tier uses Oracle9i database to provide a powerful data-processing function. Furthermore, the utilization of a privilege management system and data encryption technology ensures the high security of the system.The system is simulated and tested with emulator as well as different types of PDA. The result shows that the operational support system of wireless vending machine based on PDA runs stable and reliable. Compared to the original PC client system, its high mobility and portability make it easier for the managers to maintain the wireless vending machine system.
