With the development of the technology of Opto-Electronic Platform carried by ships, the performance of stabilization and track has been well improved. But the movements of the Opto-Electronic Platform's axis add additional rotation to the image, and bring trouble to the people's observation. So the image rotation compensation technology (called image despun technology here) becomes a necessary research aspect.This paper realizes a real-time image despun system based on high-volume FPGA and float-DSP. The designs of hardware and software have been introduced in detail. The research focuses on how to realize image rotation algorithm, how to receive image rotation angles from PC's serial interface by DSP, how to transmit image datas via DA and display on TV. The system not only can realize image despun, but also can validate algorithms of real-time image processing. In the latter chapter, a preliminary introduction about pure electronic despun system design is discussed.The results of experiment show that the realization of image despun algorithm using FPGA reached the requirement of real-time image processing and the quality is good. Besides, all the expected targets have reached. At last, the experience of system's design and debugging is summarized, and some problems in debugging are analyzed.
