The current research of Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) and Network Mobility (NEMO) theories become mature gradually, but it is necessary to further research the performance by network simulation. Network simulation is an effective way to research the network technology. Considering the expansibility, this thesis use NS-2 as the network simulation platform.The NS-2 platform has a patch named MobiWan to support MIPv6, and MobiWan has been extended to support NEMO. Because MobiWan was released before MIPv6 protocol and the problems in research are reduced, there are still some problems in the simulations of MIPv6 and NEMO presently, for example: the mobility across the domains cannot hand over; the Return Routablility Procedure cannot carry on normally in MIPv6 simulation; the nodes cannot move and there are some signal interference problems in the mobile network.Considering these simulation problems, this thesis researches the MIPv6 protocol RFC 3775 and the NEMO protocol RFC 3963, then analyzes the MIPv6 and NEMO simulation principles in NS-2 deeply, and presents improvements according to the MIPv6 and NEMO protocols: the thesis achieves the handover across the domains in the MIPv6 simulation and resolves signal interference problems in the NEMO simulation by setting the channels suitably; this thesis ensures the Return Routablility Procedure simulation carry on normally by changing the classifier connections; for the mobility of the nodes in mobile network in NEMO simulation, this thesis adds the mobility module and redefines the process of the node creating function. Then, this thesis designs some simulation scenes for the solutions and makes a whole simulation including MIPv6 and NEMO. At last, in order to research the vertical handover in MIPv6 and NEMO, the WiMAX module is added into NS-2, and the collision of WiMAX module with MobiWan is solved, and this thesis has combined WiMAX with MIPv6 to simulate and then distributes the link in the vertical handover.Through the above work, feasible solutions are proposed, and the improved NS-2 platform can perform in line with the norms of the protocols and is close to the reality for MIPv6 and NEMO simulation, also it can simulate more complex mobile networks, so it promotes the research and application, and it has an important significance.
