Smart home system is refers to manage home application subsystems through advanced computer, communications control, embedded and so on technologies. It lets the family life be more convenient, comfortable, energy-saving, safe and effective.Smart home started early in foreign countries. And the technology is more advanced, sophisticates. Although China started late but due to rapid economic development in recent years, and the sciences technology quickly progress, and the big equipments of better living situation from society, China has welcomed a broad development opportunities.The numerous organizations and the company also one after another launch to this domain research vigorously, causes this technology to enter the ordinary common people's life gradually. The smart home based on embedded, multi-mode control and intelligent will bring greater convenience to people. It is therefore necessary to carry on certain investigation, analysis, research to this domain. And develop a set of primary integrative system, provides the earlier period preparation for the further research.This article based on the embedded ARM system platform, studied the control mode, internal communications, emergency and other aspects of Smart Home. Design and realize a set of Smart Home system with basic functions, and give a simulation experiment.This article first introduced the concept and research direction of Smart Home, as well as the research situation of China and abroad. And then gave a Smart Home design scheme based on ARM. Based on the scheme, this article study several techniques in this field and carried out a simple application. This system can realize simple functions.There are many communication technologies in Smart Home field, such as PLC technology, Bluetooth technology, infrared technology, and Zigbee technology and so. Power line carrier technology which makes use of existing power-line system as a transmission medium, no additional wiring, is a more sophisticated communications technology. X10 is a communication standard based on power line carrier technology.After the introduction of X10 technology, a simple experimental communication protocol is made. This article takes advantage of the BWP10A module which produced by Shenzhen BitWell Technology Co., Ltd and MagicARM2200 experimental platform to completed the hardware platform structures. Then use the ADS 1.2 to realize the code of two communication sides. Finally through an experimental verification power line carrier technology's validity, has laid the foundation for the following experimentTaking into account a complete Smart Home system should be connected to the Internet and have friendly interface. This article designed and realized a remote web control system which based on JSP technology, Tomcat server. The remote control system using PC as a server and a central controller, users can remote control electrical equipments through the Internet. The system function mainly includes the user management and the equipment operation two major pars. Only the user with correct right can control the equipments in house.The traditional touch-switch sometimes will bring enormous inconvenient to people. Before a equipment is turned on, you must touch the switch only then to be possible to complete the operation. When the uses'action is with difficulty or their vision is limited then to find the switch has become a terrible business. Therefore this article also introduced and applied another control technology, speech recognition. This technique can identify the use's voice information, and transform the analog voice signal into digital identification signal. This article used this characteristic to carry on the application development.This article designed and realizes a speech recognition terminal controller based on the chip of HBR110 from Beijing Helios-ADSP Technology Co. Ltd. The controller receives and identifies the uses'voice commands by HBR110 chip. With this controller users can design their own voice commands. In the test process discovered that the controller is high to the background environment request, the effective service range must be increased.This article believed that along with the social aging tendency's aggravating, more and more old people start to live alone. These old persons who lack of caregivers at home inevitable to have the accident in the home: fall over themselves, disease to arise suddenly, and the accident to be stranded and so on. In this kind of situation, old persons are often unable to help themselves, so the outside help is necessary and sometimes is urgent. The delay possibly to pay the painful price. Based on the above considerations, designed a home emergency subsystem which is timely, high-performance and wireless. It makes full use of the power line carrier technique and GPRS technique. The users as long as press gently may sound the warning, even if their actions are limited. When the user triggers emergency function, the system first of all, loads the configure information from configure message. It includes message content and mobile phone numbers. Depending on this information the system sends the emergency messages to family members, medical personnel for help, so they can give the help as quickly as they can. At the same time, the emergency system controls equipments on the power line to turn on and off again and again, and rings the alarm. By using these ways to draw other persons'attentions, and ensure the effectiveness of the system.Through the above research work, the author gets a preliminary understanding of Smart Home system, but this is only a small part of this field. As an integrated field, there are still many things to do. It not only requires us to do the necessary research in hardware platforms and protocol, but also in system integration, especially in the intelligent field. It not simply allows the system to receive commands, but also through a variety of techniques to aware external environment and summary users'custom, so that the Smart Home system can provide reasonable advice and quality services.
