Alone with development of Electronic Commerce and prevalence of consumptive electronics, Fingerprint Identification system is required by more and more fields. Now, independent Fingerprint Identification system based on DSP have been applied to timecard, janitor and safety inspection fields. Alone with development of electronic technology, designing fingerprint identification ASIC which can be applied to minitype system such as mobile telephone or PDA have strong practical meaning and wide market.This paper choose FPGA as the core MCU(Micro Control Unit), and adopt the design method of SOPC, designing some IP Cores, and finally realize real-time capturing of fingerprint image, displaying the captured image via VGA and fingerprint image processing. The paper design SCCB bus controller, image capture controller and VGA display controller.The customize IP Cores have universal property, and can be transplanted other platforms of FPGA or ASIC.The paper make pretreatment to the captured image, and develop some arithmetic such as space filter, image partition, frequency domain filter, and make smoothness and enhancement via designing special filter. Finally, the paper develop interrelated arithmetic and realize binary image and thinning processing.In capture part, the performance of capturing fingerprint reach 640*480 resolving, 300*300 window sizing and 30 FPS of frame speed. The captured fingerprint is real-time displayed via VGA. In pretreatment part, the 300*300 sizing fingerprint is processed and finally realize the thinning of fingerprint.In the end, the paper make a summarize of the whole system and put forward the problems in existence and make prospect for later research.
