Wireless sensor networks can meet special needs and work in poor condition, so it has become a hot area of research community in academia and industry .A large number of low-cost, small size, powerful wireless sensor network nodes are deployed randomly in poor condition and special area. Wireless sensor network target tracking algorithm becomes a research hotspot, because it shows a broad application prospect in the military, industrial, environmental, medical, family.The current tracking algorithms in WSN cann't be applied to the partical application for their daunting energy comsuption.Therefore, the researches in this thesis focus on the energy efficient tracking algorithm in WSN.Introduce wireless sensor network, generalize the development and significance of target tracking in WSN, and describle the research status of object tracking in China and abroad.An energy efficient nodes tracking algorithm in wireless sensor network is proposed. In view of particle filter has poorer performance, if it has greater dimension.So this algorithm estimates the position and velocith separately to improve the node tracking precision. To save the node energy, the algorithm fits the particles and weights into Guassian distribution, only the parameters of the distribution are transferred among the nodes during tracking. The simulation results show the validity of the algorithm.Based on an energy efficient nodes tracking algorithm in wireless sensor network Energy efficient nodes cluster-based tracking algorithm is proposed. This algorithm divided the network into some clusters. The sensor nodes within 1-hop of the clusterhead generate a cluster. The clusterhead fuses the data from cluster number with the assigned weights, calculated according to their energy and hops away from their clusterhead. And the location is estimated by the fused data, if anchor node density is large, this leads to accurate positioning, and during dividing the clusters, the algorithm sets the sensor nodes not belonging to any cluster sleep to save nodes energy, so the network lifetime will be prolonged.Based on energy efficient nodes cluster-based tracking algorithm, apply the algorithm on reality environment to track the unknown node. The experiments on the spot show because signal interference and low computing of nodes, the algorithm has some errors in positioning accuracy, but it can save nodes energy.
