The thesis based on coverage driven methodology, developing the automatic testbench, which can finish the automatic check of IP core simulation results and collect coverage of each sub-modules. It is implemented in the MAC sub-layer IP core's verification, with plenty of random stimulus generated for regression. Finally the 100% functional coverage and code coverage have been achieved.Several new systematic verification methods were applied during the process of setting testbench, such as taking the reference model to verify the complex data transactions, planting the third-party verification environment. All of them reduced the complexity and effort of the verification without compromised quality. In the mean time, RAM interface verification environment and assertion test mechanism focused on MAC IP core were developed. These applied methods ensure the self-check and coverage collection of simulation results.The whole design adopts standard interface and hierarchical structure. Data of each sub-environment can easily be shared by pointers. Configuration files and virtual sequence technology were introduced to configure the testbench. All these lead up to the feature that the testbench is reusable and portable.
