Study On Narrative Technique In Television Documentaries Of China

Narrative is one of the most expressive and attractive factors in producing documentaries. In 1990s, the idea of"on-the-spot record"was inducted ,turning the model of subjective publicity and education into objective and real record, then, television documentaries of China focused on ordinary people,daily affairs and extracted stories from real life. Thus, the principle of realism was fully confirmed. After entering the new century, some excellent documentaries abroad and the new notions and styles have been introduced into China. Then the creation of television documentaries in China has followed the road of diversification. Diversification is also the inevitable trend of narrative technique.Starting from the perspective of creation, based on narrative, communication, art, cultural studies, and other related theories, this thesis gradually investigate from the common narrative technique, the narrative design deepening and the evolution of the narrative technique in television documentaries. In this thesis, positive research method and literature analysis have been employed to carry out the research. The thesis also studys the television art and makes some discussion analysis on the constructive rules,ways of expression and aesthetic features, in order to contribute some positive guidelines to documentary production. Meanwhile, the thesis contributes to create and offer some reference to the new television documentary creation, guides to solve the hard problem of homogenization in TV programs.The text mainly includes three parts:First, the basic narrative technique in television documentaries. This part is a generalization, introducing the development of television documentaries in China, analysing the current status on TV programmation, concluding the aesthetic principles, the main constituent and the common narrative technique. This part lays a foundation for subsequent discussion.Second, narrative is deepened. This part discusses that the narrative of television documentaries how to deepen. Aesthetically speaking, television documentaries of China has entered a new period of diversification. Cultural speaking, television documentaries of China should turn to the main culture of the Chinese nation, which is the motive force of the Long-term Development. In an era of social peace, stability and advancement, it gives a new lease of life for television documentaries of China to spread the advanced culture and build a harmonious society. Television documentaries of China should keep up with the times,choose the theme about the scientific concept of development and social harmony, improve the level of narrative from the situation, the structure, the plot ,the detail, the reproduction and the performance. On the basis of without violating the"reality", television documentaries of China should develop new performance practices, create the value of knowledge, images, culture and art.Third, the narrative technique evolves in television documentaries. This part studys about the narrative technique in television programmes. In a highly competitive market environment,television documentaries should study the psychology and need of the television audiences, respect their cultural formulation and value orientation, create the work which is loved to see and hear by the public. This part also summarizes many kinds of narrative technique, such as telling, taking part in, revealing, correlation, reproduction, imitation. The different uses of narrative technique in different types of television programmes are in concrete discussion.While making an intensive study of television documentaries in China, this thesis also analyses the technique of some excellent documentaries in the Euro-American countries, including narrative styles, aesthetic imagery and humanity meanings, learns them how to join interest and knowledge, art and culture together in market competition. Then we can receive some reference. The aim is to learn them the advanced skills. It is hoped that the thesis can enlighten the producers of documentaries, and have the far-reaching significance of healthy development in television documentaries of China.
