| Image Processing is one of the subjects expanding rapidly in the field of information science during the past several decades.At present, it has applied extensively in many subjects such as aviation, medicine, communications, and industry etc. Digital image processing consume a large amount of memory and time commonly. Basing on the advantage of FPGA, the paper design harware module by HDL(Hardware Language), i.e, some function is achieved by LEs(Logic Element) of the FPGA.This design can solve the speed problem of image processing.Along with the FPGA technology development, we propose a new method and mentality for the digital image signal processing in the algorithm, the system structure.In this paper, a image processing system,which has the function of video capture, image processing and image displaying has been designed and set up.The system used Altera Corporation's FPGA as the central processor. It was composed of video decode module, image processing module, and video coding module. The analog video signal was captured by CCD sensor and converted to the digital video signal by video A/D processor SAA7113. Image processing module remove the noise form the images and detect the edge in the image; the video D/A processor SAA7121 convert the digital signals to analog data stream which can be displayed.The full design of each module are synthesized and simulated on QuartusII and Modelsim. The result of simulation indicates that the design of image processing algorithm based of FPGA can not only achieve a good processed result, but also it can give a better performance of speed than using software and suit for image processing. |
