Wireless Sensor Network(WSN), a new generation of sensor network, of which development and application profound influence will be generated to every domain of human-being, and will greatly promoting the application of Public Safety, Ecological Environment Protection, Emergency Command, Intelligent Transportation, Smart Home. Due to the diversities of the domain applied, tremendous challenge has been proposed to the further application of WSN for the requirements of high-adaptable, Loose Coupling and Customizable WSN middleware.Middleware is applied in traditional software architecture to simplify network application and development, provide designer the suitable interface. Middleware is introduced to shield the system heterogeneous substrate, with which developer could be able to concentrate on the logic of practical application, thus promoting the efficiency of development and the Reusability of software. However, because of the characteristic and the limited condition of WSN itself, traditional middleware mode is not suitable for WSN. Therefore, research and seeking on a middleware mode for WSN is the purpose of this paper.WSN architecture is studied in this paper. Base on the analysis and comparison of present WSN middleware, classification of the WSN application is proposed, by which a WSN middleware platform of Hierarchical Structure and Customizability is devised in this paper. The feasibility and validity of the WSN Middleware Mode designed is verified by the simulation on TinyOS and the successfully application case in Greenhouse Environment Monitoring. The Middleware Mode present in the paper, basing on the classification of application, of Hierarchical Structure and Customizability, has good generality which is applied to provide reference valve to the design and application of WSN Middleware.
