Study And Implementation Of Time Synchronization System In Local Area Network Based On NTP

Nowadays the computers'network and the modern communication system are developing quickly, and especially the time synchronization technology in LAN is paid more and more attention to. The Network Time Protocol was come forth and has developed rapidly. It remedies the defect of traditional means, and brings the facilities to some time synchronization systems. At the present time, some analogous products of synchronization in LAN have existed in the market, while their developed technology, precision and price are different from each other.In this paper, for the above-mentioned disadvantages of low accuracy and low cost performance in time synchronization, we brought forward a time synchronization system scheme in local area network. This paper studied the NTP theory of operation and three work modes, and analyzed their applications. We studied thoroughly the four algorithms which were used in complex multi-level network: the data filter algorithm, the clock selection algorithm, the clustering algorithm and the clock discipline algorithm. Based on the NTP algorithms, we elaborated how to adjust local hardware clock to improve the synchronization process. Based on the analysis of demand, we designed the network structure and architecture of the system, and elaborated the design of hardware and software in the system and the concrete test scheme.The experiment result has been proved that the system can receive a variety of time information of the time source (such as GPS, GLONASS, BEIDOU, IRIG-B), and supply the clients and subnets in LAN with time synchronization service. The time server can get instantly the extract clock signal to synchronize the local clock and provide network time service. The Time client can get the extract clock signal to synchronize the local clock. The system can provide accurate time service for over one hundred of clients in LAN, and the accuracy of time synchronization can reach to 1ms or more, which can meet the practical requirements and have a certain practical value.
