Key Technology Study And Implementation Of SCTP Protocol

SCTP ptotocal is signaling transmission Layer in SIGTRAN protocol, it is based on the flexible and open IP protocol, and support Multi-homing nodes, Multi-streaming, flow control, congestion avoidance, error detection , multi-chunk and etc. It fulfills the requirement of signaling over IP and also the trend of transport protocol development. Tomix is a telecom platcom of Alcatel, implementing SCTP protocol will benefit the promotion of the product.Acording to the requirement of high reliability in tecom network, It focus on the three key technologies: 1. Multi-homing: It improves the reliability of SCTP association; 2. Error detection: Error detection is a method of detecting if the SCTP end point or the path of SCTP association is reachable by Heartbeat mechanim and maximum chunk re-transmission and then decided to fail over or not. 3. Congestion control: the congestion window could be caculated by slow start mode or congestion avoidance mode, to get the flow control mechanism and ensure the high availability of SCTP association.It demonstrated a method of implementing SCTP protocol in Tomix platform, and then design the software modular and interface according to the hardware and software architecture of Tomix platform. Finally It makes the application function test based on a real environment, it provide the proving records of SCTP realization and path selection and error detection, it can be the effective reference for future as well.
