Die casting is important in material processing in die casting production. Whether the production process can carry on smoothly and the quality of die casting have guarantee, largely depends on the rationality of mould structure and advancement of the designing technology.The design course is a complicated engineering, during which the devisers have to require enormous parametric data, calculation,data check up and a large numbers of drawings.Therefore the schedule of mould design will be postponed and the veracity of mould will also be affected if the design only depends on the traditional methods. The thesis has developed a CAD system for die casting mould. This system has provided a convient and effective tool in die casting mould design for mechanical engineers. Several aspects of this research have mainly conducted in the paper.The present situation and the trend of development of die casting CAD technology have been introduced in China and in foreign countries.Then during detailed data analysis, several design methods of die casting mould CAD system comparison,and combined with the pratical needs of the system,at last, the final choice is applicated to Pro/TOOLKIT tool as the system development tools on the Pro/E platform.In die casting mould design process is based on system analysis,overall structure of the die casting mould CAD system has been designed, Pro/TOOLKIT technology,database technology, CAD system subsystems including selection of die casting machine mould, plate design mould, supporting plate design mould, plate design mould,stripping mechanism design mould,gating system design mould,and core-pulling mechanism design mould have been comprehendingly used.Base on the use of Pro/TOOLKIT menu and user interface dialog boxes technology,visualization interface of die casting mould CAD system has been designed. User interface dialog boxes are interactive interface which are provided by Pro/TOOKIT.The programmer can use user interface dialog boxes technology of designing dialog boxes to the human-machine interface with Pro/E system in the Pro/TOOKIT application.In this paper, the development of die casting mould CAD system has been used by designer can help calculation,designing and drawing.After being debugged and running,it is up to design desire and able to realize computer-aided design main function.The real case shows that the system is simple,easy to learn and use and adapts to engineer designing habits. It can greatly reduce the intensity of designer's work.As a result, the efficiency and reliability of design have been great improved.The die casting mould CAD system uses the standardization of software development tools which provides strong extensibility and maintainability.
