Reliability Testing Scheme For SmartOSEK OS

As a prevailing method to evaluate whether the software meets its reliability criterion, software reliability testing gives the possibility of continual running time without malfunction under certain condition and time interval. Those vital systems, such as vehicle control, medical care etc, all need to undergo the reliability measurement process. As an embedded real-time operating system for safety-critical systems, SmartOSEK OS demands a systematic test scheme to measure its reliability.According to OSEK/VDX standards, this thesis implements a systematic reliability testing scheme and incremental testing process based on the study of embedded software testing and reliability engineering. SmartOSEK OS can be effectively measured after applying this scheme, and become a better industrial product. This scheme can also conveniently evaluate other OSEK/VDX compliant operating systems with slight changes. As a general testing architecture, this scheme has a great meric to the safety-critical field which demands a high reliability.The core work of the thesis can be generalized as following:1) This thesis designed the systematic reliability testing scheme and incremental testing process based on the characteristics of SmartOSEK OS.2) This thesis designed specific test case development methods according to different testing objects, and built effective test suites.3) This thesis designed and implemented a test case auto-generating tool, which can enhance the quality of test suites and shorten the testing process.4) This thesis developed a test case auto-executing platform to execuate the test suites and collect the test results.5) This thesis analyzed test results, measured SmartOSEK OS's reliability according to specific reliability model, and guided the improvement of OS.
