Wireless Sensor Network(WSN), which is the combination of sensor, computer and network, is a novel technology about acquiring and processing information. Standard IEEE802.15.4 is the wireless communication standard for low-rate wireless personal area networks and many research organizations regard it as the wireless communication standard for WSN.In this paper, the secure routing protocols for WSN, based the standard IEEE802.15.4, are mainly studied. Firstly, the categories, the characteristic and the performance indexes of the routing protocols are introduced. Then the attacks on routing protocols and the security requirement of routing are discussed. The AODV protocol which can be used in the 802.15.4 is analyzed. After that, a new secure routing protocol for WSN named SRWSN is proposed. This protocol achieves a good performance in energy balance and energy conservation, by adding the energy balance algorithm and deleting the HELLO algorithm of AODV protocol. The key in the protocol is established by the pre-shared key model. The certification and encryption of routing messages are achieved by using the hash function, single-key digital signature and symmetric-key algorithm. Finally with NS2, the simulation of the SRWSN protocol is executed. The simulation is divided into two parts: the normal nodes simulation and the malicious nodes simulation. The results show that the SRWSN has a high packet delivery fraction, low average end-to-end delay of data packets, good energy balance and security.
