As an emerging technology, WiMAX has been applied in many parts of the world for the network construction. The scheduling technology is the key of the performance of the whole network. IEEE 802.16e standard defines five services, which supported by WiMAX network. And the scheduling interaction approaches of signaling between terminal and base station are given by IEEE 802.16e. However, in such a scheduling environment, the scheduling algorithms of the base station are not specifically given by the standard. But different circumstances need diverse scheduling algorithm. Therefore, it is necessary that the corresponding solutions are given for the different scenarios. The background of the WiMAX scheduling techniques and the research status of scheduling algorithms is introduced by this paper. And then the implementation mechanism of the WiMAX network scheduling algorithm is described. WiMAX scheduling module is mainly achieved in the MAC layer. The hierarchical model of the MAC layer and highlights the characteristics of five kinds of traffic flows under the convergence sub-layer are presented by the paper. And several businesses set of QoS parameters are given. Then several scheduling algorithms in combination with the characteristics of QoS parameters are described by the text, which have been analyzed and compared with simulation results, to verify the performance of the algorithms. And then the merits and disadvantages of various algorithms have been given. Finally, on the basis of these conclusions and in the combination with the characteristics of the WiMAX network, a hierarchical scheduling compensation algorithms is provided by this paper and a simulation platform of OPNET is built and analyzed .
