Computer Aided Process Planning, as the bridge connecting CAD system and CAM system, is a vital role in the whole process of product design and manufacture. However, comparing with the development of CAD system and CAM system, the developing-speed of CAPP system was slower. In this paper, to satisfy CAPP system to generalization, integration and business, two key technologies will be studied deeply (feature identification and information extraction of box-type parts based on the intermediate file, and the process decision-making using intelligence technology).Firstly, roles and importance of the two key technologies:parts feature identification and information extraction as well as the process decision-making and process ordering about box-type parts, for the whole CAPP System,were analyzed and summarized. new innovative solutions for the two key technologies were given and studied deeply after analyzing the current development all over the world.In this paper, input module of parts information in the CAPP system was studied. By analyzing box-parts surface feature, selected the international product data exchange standards as the intermediate file to achieve part information intelligent extraction. Analyzed product data exchange standards and the intermediate file, described process information using EXPRESS language, transformed the different language, analyzed the standard files carefully, then parts information was identified and extracted integrality. Information extraction module of box-parts was verified by giving visual interface.In this paper, process decision-making module in CAPP system was studied. By analyzing box-parts machining features, used intelligent technology to decide characteristics processing methods and mechanical processes. Decided manufacture methods by selecting an integrated fuzzy neural network, using fuzzy technology, neural network technology, and taking into account the integration of CAPP system at the same time. Considering Hopfield network can solve the TSP (traveling salesman problem) effectively, Used Hopfield network to optimize process sequence reasonably and achieved the desired objective. Through relevant examples, it is verified that process decision-making system was not only valuable in technical theory, but also practical application.
