In the past twenty years, wireless application technology with cellular mobile communications as the leading, including Wireless Local Area Network(WLAN), Global Positioning System(GPS), Digital Video Broadcasting(DVB), home satellite networks and Radio Frequency Identification Systems(RFID), etc., have gained tremendous development. RF circuit has playing an important role in speeding the wireless communication technology development. In the paper, firstly several RF receiver structures were introduced. Then the superheterodyne receiver was selected as the system architecture in the thesis by comparing the advantages and disadvantages among the receiver structures.Secondly, low noise amplifier was analyzed and designed. On the basis of analyzing LNA performance indicator, A BJT LNA was designed. Because of the disadvantages of BJT LNA consuming too high consumption power, a CMOS LNA was designed. The CMOS LNA circuit introduced power-constrained simultaneous noise and input matching(PCSNIM) technique to optimize the noise figure and inter-stage matching technique to improve gain on the basis of the traditional cascade LNA structure, adjusting the size of transistors appropriately to achieve a low-power performance.Thirdly, both passive mixer and active mixer were designed. Passive mixer was designed introducing dual balanced diode mixer circuit and active mixer which using CMOS gm technique on the basis of Gilbert mixer based on TSMC 0.18μm CMOS process was designed. In addition, the two kinds of mixer based on different process were compared in detail in the chapter. Finally, microstrip antenna was designed. In the light of the shorting of microstrip antenna with narrow bandwidth, a 2.4GHz U-slot microstrip patch antenna was designed. HFSS simulation result showed that it covers the 2.4GHz-2.5GHz frequency range completely, satisfying the performance requirement of microstrip antenna in the 2.4GHz RF receiver.
