Fast social development makes Video Monitor System playing an increasingly important role in our lives, but the traditional Anolog Video Monitor System, with a limited bandwith, can not meet our increasing demand any more. The popularity of the network makes the Web-based Monitor System becoming the next generation of Video Surveillance system. Therefore it is important to do more research on the IP Cameras. Based on the analysis of existing Video Monitor System, this thesis designed the hardware circuits for the IP Cameras and developed the ARM-based embedded system. After carefully problems debugging, this thesis finally succeeded in achieving the basic functions of the network camera. This paper's main work are include:1) The hardware circuit system designs:Based on the analysis of the data processing network camera, hardware system requirements are proposed. Then chip selection is done according to design methodology of embedded system. After that, schematic is completed with the help of the data manual, Also PCB design is accomplished based on the analysis of the signal flow direction and signal data amount.2) Setup of the developing environment. Cross-development mode is used in this thesis. The host computer is an ordinary PC. but use the Fedora 10 linux operating system with the installation of arm-linux cross compiler tool chain. The target board is a six-core PCB with two bottom layers and uses the S3C2440A as the heart of the system. This system's Low-level hardware initialization and software operating environment settings are done by the transplant of the u-boot 1.1.6, Then the system is guided and the simplified linux2.6 core is running on this hardware platform.3) Joint debugging of the hardware and software and testing of the system functional:The basic functions of the network camera are completed. The designed system can directly get access to the local area network after power-on. Any computer on the network (including wired and wireless) can get access to the real-time camera image of this system. The camera image resolution is 640* 480 and the quality of the image is good.This disentation explains in detail the design and implementation of the high-definition network video camera from these four espect:Analysis of the design of the network camera systems, hardware and software development platform, embedded system migration and the realization and testing of the network camera functions.
