Wireless Mesh Network is supposed to be a promising broadband wireless network structure, which has not only made reference to the self-organizing network, but also inherited the easy-to-use feature of the low-cost wireless LAN technology. It has achieved a great improvement in scalability, robustness and thus has great potential in different kinds of fields.Since the standards of wireless mesh network are still drafts, there are many problems now in the wireless mesh security area. It made the improvement and implementation of more secure wireless mesh network necessity.This thesis focuses on not only the communication quality of the wireless mesh network but also the research and implementation of secure wireless mesh network. After the basic theoretical analysis of the wireless mesh network, we have completed a new self-adaption routing algorithm, and the design of a secure wireless mesh network response mechanism has been brought out.Then, an SJTU-Mesh testbed is introduced, performance and security is tested on the testbed. Experiments show that the security design of wireless mesh networks can provide sufficient security while at the same time, provides users access to the network, and meets the necessary requirements.In the end, we have accomplished series of test for the effect as well as the quality of the self adaption routing algorithm and the secure improvement of Wireless Mesh Network. Wireless mesh network will become more and more important in this marketing process. This thesis solves some of the security problems in this area. As an important part of the demonstration of an "863" project, it will provide a strong technical support to the future large-scale wireless mesh network applications.
