Vehicle traveling data recorder and lane departure warning system is a smart device which is used to monitor and record the state and data of vehicle, it can analyze and determine the status and provide authorities evidence for dealing with traffic accidents motorists disputes, at the same time the system can distinguish the lane when it is running, it can also collecting the status information of vehicle. It can determine whether the vehicle is department or not, according to the related arithmetic. If the vehicle belongs to illegally change lanes, the system will send out sound and light alarm signal to remind the driver that can effectively prevent the traffic accident due to the lane changed. It can provide more security for people's life and fortune.The system which is based on the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) + FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) architecture is according with national standards, besides, it can save the status of vehicle, such as speed, acceleration, time or various control switches, etc. in comparison with similar products, combined with processor performance, the system pay more attention to Video's unique features. It can also record 5 seconds before and after the car accident, the time two ways video image data and audio image data, and it can play back and off and save these valid data. The system is according with the Beijing time as the standard-setting timer, the system starts recording immediately after the vehicle is running. It can save the images, sounds, and vehicle status information inside and outside the car when the accident is occurred, The system is better than the traditional black box which can only records audio. Therefore, the study of the system has a high practical value and commercial value.The system is currently widely used with the high-performance video processor DSP of TMS320DM6441 of TI. It is dedicated as the main controller, responsible for system initialization and to coordinate the work of the various modules. Using high-performance processor FPGA Spartan3EXC3S250E of Xinlix as a co-processor to response a large number of video data stream to the buffer processing. The system used the H.264 compression algorithm to process the data which is collected by cameras. At last, the effective data is saved to the CF card memory. Both hardware and software system design is described in this paper. On the hardware side, it gives the overall framework of system development board schematic diagrams, and the system is divided into several parts function modules, and several important parts of the module hardware is designed, mainly include the audio and video collecting module, based on the ping-pong mechanism cache structure, synthesis the two-way video signals into one-way signal, etc.; On the other side of software, it mainly designed the software flow pattern, and compare various of image processing algorithms, select the most suitable algorithm for this system. Finally, the system is tested by some experiments. Software is simulated and given the key modules to achieve by listing codes and simulation diagram. The results of the simulation results obtained the correct and effective to identify lane lines.
