| Large-screen TV has predominated in TV market.It has a higher demand for GUI than other hand embedded devices, like cell phone, multimedia player and DVD player. This is mainly because of the high resolution of large-screen TV.The resolution of 42'TV that supports 1080P output is 1080×1920,it's number of pixels is 27 times of QVGA cell phone, whose resolution is only 240×320.Which means, it will cost much more CPU calculation in TV to reach same effect of UI.This is heavy load for CPU in embedded system, which is really weak in performance.As it were, big-screen TV has a much more demand for high-capable GUI than other embedded device. It is really worthy to research how to improve performance of embedded GUI system with a low cost. This paper will discuss a solution:design an independent hardware graphic acceleration module to release CPU from graphic calculation, it will replace CPU from the huge computed but simply logical work, try to improve system graphic performance with a low cost.This paper starts with analyzing graphic operation in the GUI system, designs a Graphic Accelarator based on pipeline mechanism. It also proposes a Layered-Driver design, which makes Graphic Accelatator portable in different GUI system. Finnally the function of Graphic Accelarator is measured in a actual system, the results prove accelarator has indeed improved system's graphic performance. The system has already been applied in a on-sale digital TV chip. |
