With the liberalization of policy and new technologies emerging, the telecommunications market competition is increasing. To meet the challenge, telecom operators need to achieve strategic transformation, through a multi-network, multi-terminal, multi-service integration and value chain extension to make the change that from traditional network operators to integrated information service providers.The soft-switch network has strong service provide ability with its flexible way to meet the needs of operator. Soft-switch technology can use IP network as a service carrier, the improved network infrastructure to ensure various services support. The soft-switch network relies on the package switch network. It can connect with other traditional telecommunications networks such as PSTN, IP network,etc, through a variety of gateway devices, to achieve the interoperability between the various service in different networks.This thesis studies how to plan,design and construct a pair of soft-switch Gateway in mobile network of Hangzhou Mobile to replace the current TDM switching Gateway device.This thesis introduces the basic principles of soft switching and system architecture, and discusses the interconnection structure between the soft-switch network with the internal,external, same or different networks. On this basis, to determine the device configuration that meet the future services needs by analysis Zhejiang Mobile, Hangzhou Mobile's network structure and estimate the growth trends of services. Combined with the structure and characteristics of soft-switch technology.this thesis discusses the mobile soft-switch Gateway building programs, network structure, routing, signaling routing, billing, network management, trunk and signaling link configuration, make a conclusion that how to planning and design a soft-switch gateway in mobile network.In this thesis, described some encountered problems during this project in detail, and give the corresponding solutions:such as dual signaling points solution to solve the trunk limit between Hangzhou Telecom and Hangzhou Mobile; to meet market competition, achieve the interconnection of the virtual network with the fixed telephone network and the mobile network; signaling compatibility test of mobile soft-switch gateway between PSTN gateway; the specified quality testing and echo testing of the soft-switch gateway trunks. Use the experience accumulated during the network construction, this thesis gives some advices about project engineering safety and other important problems and provides a representative example of interoperable work scheme for the relevant projects for reference.Mobile Gateway of Hangzhou as the first Soft-switch Gateway in Zhejiang province, not only accumulated a large amount of engineering experience for other cities' soft-switch gateway construction but also trained a large number of technical staff for the manufacturers and operators. Into use, the soft-switch gateway in Hangzhou played an important role, and made good economic benefits.Finally, this thesis makes a overview of IMS interconnection with other networks; provide some ideas for the future network upgrade.
