MANET is a kind of mobile multi-hop self-organizing network without center,which has unparalleled advantages in the application of emergency communication,battlefield tactical communication and urban vehicular traffic for its flexible andconvenient networking mode. However, MANET can’t take advantage of itself as aseparate autonomous system due to the limitations of resources, energy and bandwidth.It has been a hot point of communication studies that interconnect MANET and Internetas a complement to traditional network. This thesis focuses on study the interconnectiongateway between multi-MANET and Internet. The main idea is to do simulationanalysis for the existing gateway technology solutions and gateway functions bearerprotocol for accumulating the theoretical basis and obtaining the supports ofexperimental data, and design and implement a modularized, scalable gateway softwareprototype system. The specific work and achievements are as follows:(1) By studying the various typical Gateway Discovery Scheme and GatewayForwarding Strategy, this thesis designed and implemented it on the OPNET platform.By comparing the various gateway technology programs in different scenarios, theresults shows that Ruiz’s and Ratanchandani’s Gateway Discovery Scheme based onAODV and tunnel-based Gateway Forwarding Strategy has better performance.(2) MANET routing protocols that support gateway functions are studied. Byanalyzing the protocol performance of AODV and OLSR in different scenarios and itsgateway function of the carrying capacity of the application business, The results showsthe performance of OLSR is better than AODV in high load network which carry onmultiple services.(3) Design and implement a prototype system of gateway software system thatsupports multiple MANET and Internet interconnection. The generic systemarchitecture makes some routing algorithms as independent modules. The generalsystem framework can support a variety of routing algorithm based on MANET.(4) The AODV and OLSR routing algorithm modules are developed and functionaltest is carried in the gateway prototype system on the basis of the two protocols. (5) Simulation experiments for multi-MANET and internet interconnectionnetwork on OPNET platform are carried. By simulation analyze, the characteristics ofnetwork behavior, gateway performance and network bottlenecks can be known indifferent scenarios.
